Toy Camera Photo Collaborative

The following was submitted to the Photojournal Collaborative calling for a photo taken with a cell phone and using an "app" that simulates the old toy cameras like Holga.
It took me a while perusing antique shops to find the toy/game that I enjoyed so much as a child; the one I found and purchased for $18 actually had the marbles included.
There are 19 participants in this collaborative and Catherine Anderson assembles the pages, designs the covers, binds the book and sends each of us the completed project. Always an amazing job!

Front of Page (4x6V)
Similar to the metal one we had as children.

Back of the 4x6 Page - with required 1" on right for binding...
will be interesting to see the design when it arrives.

Catherine gave us a "sneak peek" of the covers:
Love the bouncing horse - another of my favorite childhood toys.
What fun!

"Night Owl"

I enjoyed finishing a collage piece today for Same Page Journal with Catherine Anderson and four other participants. All of us received the same contents and then we each made a folded page following the presented requirements; we return an original page, and Catherine xeroxes them and sends us each a journal.
Below are photos of the contents, my opened page, and the front and back folded for a better viewing.
Since I haven't unpacked quite a bit of my studio, it was really interesting to "keep it simple" and use what I had available.
To start with I selected my background paper and used the braille sheet underneath, rubbing it with colored pencil for texture. Photoshop came in handy to size the "owl" (a huge thank you to DJ Pettitt for taking this beautiful photo and giving me permission to use it) and print onto the background sheet. Canvas was used for the unseen stabilizer especially since I used my sewing machine.
The saying "I am a bit of a night owl because that's when I feel the most creative and alive." is apropos; I am rather a "night owl" sometimes especially when I am working on projects.
     Hope you enjoy. Hugs, Karen
