Pagoda Walk

This week on Bonnie's PAF our challenge is: "to showcase any piece of photo art, OR a piece featuring our interpretation of a path or a road." I choose to do something "out of my comfort zone and/or expertise - so to speak" because I haven't played much with the different artistic filters. I wanted to try a "painterly" affect and the new CS6 Beta. So, here goes.

[looks really lovely enlarged, click on the photo to do so... thx]

Had to try one more with Bonnie's new "Antique Farewell" texture.
Thanks, Bonnie, you are so generous with your gifts.

Peggy's Flower

Had to play this evening and work with a few Desert Hot Springs images from my recent trip. This is a lovely flower in front of Peggy's place when I "delivered" a cake pop to her one afternoon. Was just a quick beautiful capture.

Palm Sky

Artistically enhancing a few of my photos from Palm Springs. This is one from 1000 Palms, obviously (smiles) looking up from below to the sky. Amazing natural textures. Had fun changing it up - though it was also beautiful on its own. I used Bonnie's "one life" texture at 92% difference; otherwise, all remains the same. Thanks for stopping by. Karen

LB Australia Update

Suzy just completed her two pages for my lacebook; and, "WOW" are they beautiful, so rich in lovely special fabric and lace; the texture is amazing. Gorgeous additional touches of ephemera. All of Suzy's technique and flair are definitely apparent - she is a gifted artist.
We wrote back and forth on Email and discovered that Suzy has Skype - thus proceeded my "reinstating" the app on my iPhone4 and a conversation began. Isn't it amazing to be able to say "Thank You" in person/video between Alaska and Australia? Technology is great!

Hidden in Plane View

Bonnie's PAF this week was to do one of three challenges; I have chosen "Hidden in Plain View" - with no texture. Photos were taken with my iPhone4 so lends to a bit of texture regardless. The right half of the bottom of the top half (got that?) is of the Turnagain Arm road that we always take from Anchorage to the Kenai Peninsula - amazing beauty abounds and I have taken fabulous "shots" on this drive as we prepare to enter the mountains and Turnagain Pass to the "Y" which leads us to Seward or Soldotna/Kenai/Homer.
I chose to hide Ringo, my youngest daughters beautiful pet who just passed a week before Christmas. The "hiding" could have been a bit more, but I wanted to make sure that my granddaughters wouldn't miss it.

Photos on Facebook

Photos are "up" on Facebook (open to the public via the links provided here) and on my "Photography Page" which you can click just under the Blue Moose Banner above. All of the photos on FB are totally SOOC (Straight Out Of the Camera). I have a lot to work with and enjoy over the next few months.

Baby Hummingbirds

This is the first time I have witnessed "baby" hummingbirds; in fact, I rarely see hummingbirds except when Mother was living in Seward. To actually photograph two/three day old very tiny "babes" is amazing. The photo was taken when I was on holiday in Palm Springs. Obviously, I have not had time to work on the "hidden" challenge. Smiles - the hummingbird nest is almost hidden it is so small and difficult to see. I wanted to share.

Muffins - Healthy Ones!

Received this recipe while on holiday in Desert Hot Springs from a new-found friend. They are amazing and I just had to try them. Used my iPhone4 to take the photos for the "storyboard." Only "photoshop" thing I have been able to quickly put out lately.
These muffins have chopped apples, bananas, whole wheat and ground brown rice flours, raisins, dark chocolate jumbo chips, shaved coconut, honey, extra virgin olive oil...
     Hugs. Karen

1000 Palms

Visited 1000 Palms, Shields Date Gardens, and saw "Iron Lady" - so, a mixture of fun here in Desert Hot Springs (Palm Springs, California) today. Bonnie's Challenge of an abstract... I am unable to capture the layers since I am not at my own computer. But, hope you enjoy nonetheless. Have been taking photos as much as possible. Will have lots to work with.
I apologize to those in the challenge because I have not been able to comment; will do so when I return home. Thanks for your understanding.
