When I opened PSE to work on this challenge, my granddaughter Milena was staying overnight. Milena wanted to make choices and helped with decision making, thus producing her own version of my image. So, I am posting both of our images and she would love to hear what you have to say.
original with textures used and photo of Milena
Milena's Choice (Hue Saturation)
Karen's Choice (Linear Burn)
(Click above to link to the challenge.)
Both are equally nice.
They are both gorgeous!
But I think, I like the first one better because it has a very mystic and calm feeling in it.
The second one is also great, the colours are simply stunning.
Lots of love and greetings from Switzerland,
I think Milena has a great eye Karen... and in this version, less is definitely more! Great job!
I love the alternative colour and tone in yours though... very creative editing. =)
Very interesting processing, well done both!
Very fascinating edit! Had to look at the photo above to see what that was. So interesting!
Oh and Milena is so cute. Please tell her that she made the perfect choice of Textures.
Milena's choice is so calm and elegant while yours is vibrant and dramatic - amazing what a little click of the button can do, isn't it? I like how the votives just fade away into the texture. Well done both of you!
what fun that you have the assistance of your sweet granddaughter! she sure has an eye for it! i like both, but with a little preference of the second one...
I think both of these are very beautiful but the one that Milena did has a very special almost ethereal quality to it which matches the subject so well . . .Lovely work both of you :-) Teresa x
The textures added so much more to this photo. Both pictures are beautiful - each in its own way.
Both are great, but I love the blue tones, I think they add a great depth to the image.
And a wonderful choice she made! Lovely.
I like both edits!
Both are lovely!
Thanks for visiting my blog :)
It is so sweet that you involve your granddaughter in this project! I love both images very much. The first one has a beautiful ethereal feel to it, while the second one has some wonderful abstract qualities. Really beautifully done!
I'd be hard pressed to pick between the two, great choices and beautiful use of texture.
How fun that Milena helped you with this process. Love that!
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment on my blog, Karen. :)
great choices both and a beautiful photo to start with! and how fun to have your granddaughter help with the choice!
Both the pics look nice!
your granddaughter has quite an eye i think your need to buy her a camera and get her hooked!
I like them, both! Milena, I love the softness and mystery of yours. It really fits the subject. Karen, I love the blue tones in yours. Again, it really seems to fit the image.
She made a lovely choice. And so did you-love the colors.
So fun! both are great!
My eight year old son always wants to "help" me with photoshop too. It's such a fun age, isn't it?
I like both of them too -- but then I can scroll through each blend mode several times and still not be able to decide what I want to do.
I like the composition of the original shot, too.
I would say the first one has a slightly eerie feel to it. Probably because I see in some of the votive head and shoulder silhouettes of people. But, both are so creative!
I like them both, but I think Milena has a special touch of creativity. If you need help with the mouse over send me an email and I'll try to help.
Wow. Both are so lovely. I'm a minimalist and am partial to the first one.
Oh WOW!! GO, Milena!! These images are wonderful!! I so love your work, Karen, and now Milena's too! :)
i love both! you have a talented grand daughter :)
Very interesting image .
I like more the first one ... :)
Thank you for visiting my blog ,and for your kind comment .
...and the winner is....
Both are intriguing and the subject matter was so clever. What fun to be playing together like this.
Wonderful texture work. Both pictures are beautiful and artistry.
I think I'm partial to the lighter image, but both are attractive. The haze in the original photo and the purple I see is also lovely.
They are both great!
Oh these are both quite lovely, and each with it's own individual beauty.
They are both marvelous yet so different! Can't decide which one is my favorite.
I've got to try the shades of Novemember, gorgeous.
Thanks for your wonderful comments.
Have a great day.
ok, i can't decide which of these photos i like best so they both get a thumbs up from me, :) these are beautifully rendered. keep up the great work. thanks so much for dropping by my blog today, Karen. it was nice to meet you. hope all is well. have a great night~
They are BOTH very striking images! :-)
How fun to collaborate with your granddaughter! She is very talented, but that must be inherited from you -- I think both versions are wonderful.
gorgeous shots and processing! love the music in here too.
Hi Karen, love these images and your granddaughter is so cute. Thanks so much for sharing, you are such an encouragment.
Both images are awesome! How much fun to work on photos with your granddaughter! They both would look good hanging in a church or a for a tasseled robe collar.
My little granddaughter is six and she is often my photography muse...she and her 3 year old brother. They love art, painting and splashing about. They love posing for photos. But it has never occurred to me to let them help with photoshop, textures, etc. Not sure how I would go about it!!! But such fun. It is super cool that you share this talent of yours with Milena...such a beautiful name. I love her collage. She has to be so tickled to be receiving so many accolades on her grammy's blog!!! smiles: sharon
Both are very cool! Thanks for your always kind encouragements on my photo attempts!
