This is an amazing fire pit image, SOOC; I think it makes a great abstract black and white. Please click on the image for more detail. [
If you are interested, I posted the color original on my Photography Page on this Blog, link in bar above. 12.02.2011 posted color version here below the b/w, to free up the Photography Page. Thank you.]
Too Hot to Touch

I would not have guessed the subject from the b&w, but love the colour shot.
This is a fine shot but I really do love the colored one. That was stunning. Have a nice week end.
Thank you for nice comment on my blog, I'm very glad for the sweet words..Lovely in b/w and also in colour..Have a nice weekend..;D
I like the silkiness of the smoke, it could be taken for water movement with a slow shutter (I'm in an abstract frame of mind at the moment). Both (the monochrome and color) versions are great in their own regard.
Such a great and special b&w shot!
I thought it was a waterfall at first. I love abstract shots like this that appear to be different things.
Lovely black and white karen! I also went to see the color one, and it is lovely too. Somehow ended up after browsing a bit on the photos of your trip in the summer to Montanna. Have to say it brought tears to my eyes. Have been "there" and know how hard a trip like that is. And it goes on and on for so long. Hugs from Texas
Karen, this is a stunning image!
This is a really "cool" idea!!! On Sunday we are having a BBQ (despite cold weather) and will have fire pit for s'mores....I must try to remember and do a black and white of the wood and flames. It is always so much fun to visit blogs and see things one would not normally think of...and this is an exceptional one.
This image looks so different from its color twin. I like the color, but the black & white is exceptional!
I didn't guess it's fire before!
Thanks for dropping by :)
Great pic. Love the effect of monochrome makes the pic abstract and with so many elements and shades. The smoke looks great.
Nice in black and white, but absolutely fantastic in color (my favorite).
I think the black and white one looks magical and the color version looks intense and warm and I can hear the crackle.
Very nice! I don't think I would have guessed it's a fire pit!
Thanks for sharing;o)
Have a nice weekend****
Fine shot. It's always a bit surprising how good fire looks in black and white.
We have dug a little fire pit down by our creek which we use all the time. I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to shoot it and get a decent capture, but I have been a total failure at it. This one is awesome. You did one fine job. Very impressive photography. Maybe one of these days I will end up with one I can save. genie
so clever compo.
I'd love to comment but your image shows up as an exclamation in a triangle.
I agree Karen, this B&W version does make a great abstract image. I love the color version as well for different reasons.
Love the dancing flames
